I find it a pity that the terrain features offer so little tactical possibilities. As far as I know the only thing trees etc do is blocking your way, but they do not offer any protection against archers, or influence movement
I think the battles would become a lot more interesting, tactically, if terrain features did offer some protection against missiles, or slowed down the movement.

To take this a bit further, it appears not to matter what the distance to the target is, as long as it is within range. This is the main reason ranged attacks are a bit too powerfull: they do not have to let you get close in order to hit. And it is not even possible to hide behind the broad back of your giant... Sad

Hopefully such thing will be taken care of in a next version!

The reasons those things weren't implemented are 1) that it would be much harder for the AI to properly use archers and defend against archers. Therefore either require way too much time to make the change or raise the tactical intelligence difference of the AI and human player. And 2) A change like that would probably make the battles too tactical for this game and sometimes frustrating when the arrows can't seem to hit if you're trying a long shot.

Welcome back by the way. Smile

I remebered the demo from some months ago, first went on holidays and now finally ordered the game and just started playing.
Surely addicting enough for the moment, but it still has a lot of potential that is not used atthe moment.
Anyway, your remark on games 'being too tactical' probably does not apply to people that like turn-based games. Turn-based gives one time to think about moves, which makes it most suitable for more tactical consideration, in contrast to real-time 'strategy' games...
Your AI remark does make sense, though, I can imagine it would certainly not make life easy for the programmer. However, if the on-line version gets implemented, there would not be any AI problems anymore, right
Wink
Cheers anyway, keep going!
